Cumberland Covered Bridge

Covered bridge · Grant County, Indiana

Cumberland Covered Bridge is a covered bridge in Grant County, Indiana. Indiana has 103 covered bridges on record at Wayfarrow.

It was built in 1877, in the late 19th century, making it the 29th oldest of the 87 in Indiana with a recorded construction date; it crosses Mississinewa River; it is about 181 feet long (7th longest of 44 measured in Indiana).

Status check, 2026-11: The record's 1879 is wrong: the National Register listing and the markers at the site say 1877; the 1913 flood carried the bridge downstream and it was moved back to its original spot. One Indiana Historical Society caption says 1863, and lengths of 175 ft and 183 ft also appear. Cumberland Covered Bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It stands at 40.3886° N, 85.4847° W.
