New Point Loma Lighthouse

New Point Loma Lighthouse is a lighthouse in San Diego County, California. California has 52 lighthouses on record at Wayfarrow, 3 of them in San Diego County.

It was built in 1891, in the late 19th century, making it the 21st oldest of the 33 in California with a recorded construction date; the tower stands about 70 feet tall (5th tallest of 26 measured in California); its light sits 89 feet above the water; the light characteristic is recorded as Fl W 15s (a white flash every 15 seconds), with a range of about 22 nautical miles; it guards Pacific Ocean.

Status check, 2026-11: This iron skeletal tower, first lit March 23, 1891, replaced the Old Point Loma Lighthouse up on the cliff and is the only pyramidal skeletal lighthouse left on the West Coast. New Point Loma Lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It stands at 32.6651° N, 117.2425° W.
