St. Joseph Point Light

Lighthouse · Gulf County, Florida

St. Joseph Point Light is a lighthouse in Gulf County, Florida. Florida has 49 lighthouses on record at Wayfarrow, 2 of them in Gulf County.

It was built in 1902, in the early 20th century, making it the 25th oldest of the 30 in Florida with a recorded construction date; it was deactivated in 1960; the structure is built of structural wood.

Status check, 2026-11: The 1902 lighthouse still stands, but it was moved off this spot. It went to a farm in 1960 and then in 1979 to a private home at Simmons Bayou (about 29.7486, -85.3043). The record's coordinates are the original Beacon Hill site, which now has a modern skeletal range tower built after Hurricane Michael (2018). The tower was 41 ft originally, but its watchroom and gallery were lost in the move and the lantern is a replica, so today's height isn't confirmed. It stands at 29.9182° N, 85.3805° W.
