It was built in 1895, in the late 19th century, making it the 51st oldest of the 89 in Michigan with a recorded construction date; its light sits 52 feet above the water; the light characteristic is recorded as Fl W 10s (a white flash every 10 seconds), with a range of about 16 nautical miles; it guards Lake Huron; it was deactivated in 1947; the structure is built of brick.
Status check, 2026-11: Built in 1895, replaced by the Round Island Passage Light in 1947–48 and relit as a private aid in 1996. Hiawatha National Forest manages it. Height is left null because sources give 51, 53 and 57 ft. Round Island Light is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It stands at 45.8373° N, 84.6169° W.
