Carysfort Reef Light

Lighthouse · Florida

Carysfort Reef Light is a lighthouse in Florida. Florida has 49 lighthouses on record at Wayfarrow.

It was built in 1852, in the Civil War era, making it the 6th oldest of the 30 in Florida with a recorded construction date; the light characteristic is recorded as Fl(3) W 60s (a group of 3 white flashes every 60 seconds); it was deactivated in 2014; the recorded designer or builder is George Meade.

Status check, 2026-11: The record's 1825 is wrong: lightships marked the reef from 1826, and the current iron screwpile tower was first lit in 1852. Sources disagree on height (112 ft vs 120 ft). The light was deactivated in the mid-2010s. Carysfort Reef Light is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It stands at 25.2219° N, 80.2114° W.
