Molasses Reef Light

Lighthouse · Florida

Molasses Reef Light is a lighthouse in Florida. Florida has 49 lighthouses on record at Wayfarrow.

It was built in 1921, in the interwar years, making it the 27th oldest of the 30 in Florida with a recorded construction date; its light sits 46 feet above the water; the light characteristic is recorded as Fl R 6s (a red flash every 6 seconds), with a range of about 7 nautical miles.

Status check, 2026-11: This is a square pyramid-shaped skeletal reef light on screwpile legs, first lit in 1921. The lantern has been removed, but the tower still carries a light, a Coast Guard daymark and a NOAA weather station. The USCG fact sheet's 'operational' entry conflicts with its own text. The 45 ft height comes only from Wikipedia, where it is listed as both tower height and focal height, so it is left unconfirmed. It stands at 25.0119° N, 80.3761° W.
